Alberta Wildfire publishes a single, easy-to-remember number for reporting fires in forested areas: 310-FIRE, which dials as 310-3473. The line is toll-free anywhere in the province, works from cell and landline alike, and is staffed by Alberta’s wildfire dispatch. Use it for any unattended fire, abandoned smouldering debris pile, lightning-caused smoke, or new column of smoke in the bush. If a fire poses an immediate threat to people, structures or vehicles, call 9-1-1 first — 9-1-1 dispatchers will coordinate with Alberta Wildfire as needed. In the US, call 911 to report a wildfire; the dispatcher routes it to the responsible state, federal or local fire agency. For general non-emergency wildfire information, Alberta also operates an information line at 1-866-394-3473. Save 310-FIRE in your contacts before fire season, and write it down somewhere in your vehicle if you spend time in the backcountry. Quick reports save crews time, and a fire spotted in its first hour is dramatically easier to suppress than one that has been growing all afternoon.
Alberta’s wildfire reporting line is just 310-FIRE (310-3473) — no area code needed from anywhere in the province, on cell or landline alike.
